--- New Student Information System --- Today is the first day you can log in to the new MyUTK system to check when is the earliest you can register for Spring 2011 classes. 

Log into MyUTK at http://myutk.utk.edu by typing "utk\yourNetID" in the "username" field, replacing "yourNetID" with your actual NetID, and then your NetID password in the "password" field. Under UTK Student Registration Links, you should click "View Registration Status" to see your date and time to register. You can check to see if you are required to be advised under "For Your Review." If advising is required, you must meet with the adviser and have the advising flag cleared prior to registration.

Circle Park Online (CPO) will continue to be available through the end of this semester for current fall term 2010 functions. Students will use MyUTK for registration and, eventually, all other spring 2011 functions.

--- The Campus Entertainment Board has postponed the Battle of the Bands event scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 23, until the spring semester of 2011. Questions? Call 974-5455.

Good News

--- UT math honors students Matt Barber, Chis Carlile, Alex Happ and Zach Lindsey were invited to give talks at the 2010 Young Mathematicians Conference held last August at Ohio State University. The conference is supported by the National Science Foundation, and the students received full travel support from the NSF. The selection process was competitive, with only 55 of 136 submitted abstracts selected for presentations. The students' talks concerned research done at the 2010 UT Summer Math Honors Research Program, also funded by the NSF.

--- PRSSA Social Media Challenge meeting, 7 p.m. tomorrow in the Scripps Lab. Learn more about social media in today's public relations profession. Attendees will group up and will be given a company for which to put together an informal social media plan in 30 minutes. Please bring your $65 dues and a completed membership form to meeting or turn in to the PRSSA mailbox in the AD/PR office. Free food. --- The Minority Association of Pre-medical Students will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, in UC 220. Mary Anne Hoskins, advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences, will provide information on what is necessary in order to satisfy the pre-medical requirements here at UT.

--- Medical school lecture, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, in 27 AMB. Speaker: Mitchell Goldman, UT Medical Center. Topic: "Guide to a Successful Medical School Application." --- The Culture Night program at the I-House continues with Korean Culture Night, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the I-House Great Room. There will be an authentic Korean meal, a live Taekwondo demonstration, dance performances, Korean music, cultural presentations and more. Tickets $5 at the I-House front desk.

--- Workshop on "How to Work a Job Fair," 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, in the UC Shiloh Room. This workshop is designed to prepare you to interact with employers in a career fair setting. Hear from an employer about the career fair "do's and don'ts" and how best to prepare for the upcoming job fairs to make a great first impression. Sponsored by Career Services. --- The College of Communication and Information (CCI) will focus on making the college, its students and its faculty and staff more aware of issues of diversity and inclusiveness with a week-long series of lectures, films, discussion sessions and keynote presentations.

The series of events, "Diversity and Inclusion Week: Working Together to Build a Better World," will be held Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 at various locations in the college and around the UT Knoxville campus. 

The keynote speakers are CNN news anchor Don Lemon and Juliana Oyegun, director of diversity and inclusion for The World Bank, Washington, D.C.

--- Join a cohort of distinguished student leaders in the Office of Student Orientation & Leadership Development (SOLD). SOLD is currently accepting applications for the 2011 Emerging Leaders class. The class focuses on personal leadership development and provides three hours of academic credit for the spring semester. Knoxville Connection

--- The Baker Center for Public Policy has announced an exciting job opportunity for UT students. The Baker Center recently received a federal grant from the Election Assistance Commission to implement a College Student Poll Worker program. Interested students must be registered to vote in Knox County and will be expected to complete an application; watch an online training video and pass a test; attend a short on-site training session at the Baker Center on October 16; and work at a polling location on Election Day.
