I've been talking to several students about study abroad, so I thought a
few comments are in order. First, for math students the best semester to
go abroad is spring semester, which allows you to at least take first
semester of sequences before leaving. If you go to a quality program then
is should be possible to work out a petition to help with math sequence
requirements that might be interrupted by going abroad. Just contact me
with a course list and we can discuss it.
There has been a lot of interest in the Budapest program lately. Program
information is at http://www.budapestsemesters.com/
However, you should realize that the program is quite expensive (at least
relative to UTK's cost)--around $14,000-$16,000 per *semester* total cost.
You should be able to use your UTK scholarships for the program, but even
if you have a full ride that won't cover much more than half the cost.
