I am cannot seem to get the username and password right site access.  In class today I wrote username = troops & password = FE4fun.  Is this incorrect? Could someone send me the correct information.  Thanks.

Your major inaugural step is to set up your OIT public_html area, download the lab report template zip file thereto and unzip it.  Your first lab report is due at class 3 via this modality.  Directions are detailed at the website PSE page.  Following summarizes how this works.

NOTE: All UNIX accounts are controlled by UT OIT.  If you encounter problems with your UNIX account, contact the OIT Helpdesk.   

1. If you do not have an OIT UNIX account, then create one as follows:

            a) go to webmail.utk.edu --------> new account registration tool------>register 

                        for unix account, or click on (http://accounts.utk.edu/cgi-bin/uact/uact2register.cgi?func=loginform&type=u <https://tmail.utk.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://accounts.utk.edu/cgi-bin/uact/uact2register.cgi?func=loginform%26type=u> nix).

2. Use your OIT webmail user id and password to log in and complete the formalities.

3. A public_html folder will appear, usually after about 5 minutes.


4. The procedure for transferring files is explained at the ME452 "PSE" page, or click on

     You access this site using your  user id and password assigned at the start of semester.

5. Go through this material - most of your questions will be answered.  Then proceed to download the ME 452 lab report templates at the PSE page into your public_html folder and unzip them.

 

6. The CFD Lab server "par.engr.utk.edu" controls course access to the COMSOL computational aspects of ME 452.  The Matlab computer labs can be executed on your PC after downloading the FEmPSE toolbox, located at the PSE page.  Your login and password to the CFD Lab server will be assigned within ~10 days of course startup.  

 

On occasion I use a Bellsouth email address for broadcast communications.  DO NOT reply to it - always use my utk.edu email address for course communications.   AJB
