Materials from August 16 Webinar on Digital Inclusion RFP Now Available
Washington, DC-On August 16, the Institute of Museum and Library
Services (IMLS) hosted a webinar on its Request for Proposal (RFP:
http://www.imls.gov/pdf/FDI-2010-RFP.pdf) seeking a cooperator to
develop a framework of the principles, elements, or characteristics of
organizations and communities that foster digital inclusion. Link to the
webinar PowerPoint
(http://www.imls.gov/pdf/FDI_Webinar_extended_version.pdf) and answers
to questions raised during the presentation
(http://www.imls.gov/pdf/FDI-2010-RFP_Webinar_QA.pdf).
IMLS issued the RFP on July 23 in response to the National Broadband
Plan recommendations on digital inclusion and adoption. It is the first
step in the creation of final guidelines that will be used as the basis
for benchmarks, evaluation tools, or performance measures. The ultimate
purpose of this work is to provide resource allocators, policy makers,
and community leaders with the tools they need to build the capacity of
public libraries and community-based organizations to meet the public's
information needs. The deadline for proposals in August 30, 2010.
