Good morning everyone! Hope you all are doing great!
I am not sure how many of you may or may not be working with the issue of "Social media" guidelines at you University. It's my understanding the eXtension is taking a look at some of these types of policies and guidelines (if anyone has any additional information on this, please let me know!). But, in working on this here at NCSU in a regrettable "employee relations" context, I did some research this morning for social media policies/guidelines at Universities, and found several resources that I thought I would share:
UCLA:
http://www.ucop.edu/ucophome/policies/ec/
Duke:
http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/2009/08/socialdos.html
Cornell:
http://www.cit.cornell.edu/policies/socialnetworking/
I especially liked the information on the "thoughts on Facebook" link on the left of the page; good "guidance" language.
Northeastern University:
http://www.northeastern.edu/marcom/branding/social-media.html
Mayo Clinic:
http://sharing.mayoclinic.org/guidelines/for-mayo-clinic-employees/
Our Lady of the Lakes University:
http://www.ollusa.edu/s/1190/images/editor_documents/OLLUSocialMediaGuidelines.pdf
Ball State University:
http://cms.bsu.edu/~/media/DepartmentalContent/UMC/pdfs/BallState_SocialMediaPolicy.ashx
It includes links to Blogger Personal Code of Ethics: http://forrester.typepad.com/groundswell/2004/11/blogging_policy.html
And, finally, a big catalogue page of Social Media policies for industry, not-for-profits, private/public, governments, etc. and a few Universities, too:
http://www.compliancebuilding.com/about/publications/social-media-policies/
If you find this helpful, please feel free to use as you need. Just wanted to share this information with my colleagues. If any of you have policies/guidelines, I would be interested in seeing them as well.
All the best,
Sheri
