The School of Information Sciences requires a Graduate Student Senator
to represent the student body in the Graduate Student Senate (GSS).
Amber Conger was our representative for 2009-2010.
Following are important considerations:
* The Student Senator will be responsible for attending the
on-campus meetings of the GSS approximately every three weeks,
communicating between SIS's student body and the GSS, and being the
main voice in discussing and helping to secure University funding for
SIS student travel.
* The Student Senator should be a second-year SIS student.
* The Senator will serve for the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters.
For more information on the Graduate Student Senate, please visit
their site: http://web.utk.edu/~gss/
You can self-nominate or nominate another second-year student for this
position upon his/her agreement to be nominated. Please submit
nominations by emailing the nominee's name and email address to
[log in to unmask] before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5th.
The nomination and election of the Graduate Student Senator will be
student-led and orchestrated. All nominations will remain confidential
until names are released for the final selection process. This is an
important position, and a great opportunity for someone who is
interested in getting involved in student government and
interdepartmental communication.
Thank you!
