The University of Alabama invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of the School of Library and Information Studies. The mission of the School of Library and Information Studies is to advance the theory, art, and practice of professions specializing in the use of information and the creation of information in recorded form.
The successful candidate will provide vision and leadership in support of excellence in the School's teaching, research, and service missions, effectively communicate with the School's internal and external constituents, and foster a collegial atmosphere that encourages shared goals, supports collaborative governance, and supports the School's interactions with all units within the College of Communication and Information Sciences.
Members of the search committee and other faculty and staff members will be available for informal discussion at the 2010 American Library Association Annual Conference.
