for the Clarence Brown Theatreıs 2010-2011 Season
KNOXVILLE Season tickets are on sale now for the Clarence Brown Theatreıs
2010-2011 productions. With a special add-on production, two Christmas shows
running in repertory, a production for children, classics and a musical, the
season offers something for everyone.
The season opens with a rare and exciting collaboration between the Clarence
Brown Theatre and the Knoxville Symphony, "Amadeus." An add-on to the
season, subscribers can get these tickets at a discount!
³Right on the heels of our own 35th anniversary season, we are thrilled to
participate in the Knoxville Symphony Orchestraıs celebration of 75 years of
classical music with a unique collaboration of ³Amadeus,² said UT Theatre
Department Head Calvin MacLean.
"Amadeus," directed by CBT Artistic Director Calvin MacLean and conducted by
the Knoxville Symphony Orchestraıs Maestro Lucas Richman.
September 8-19
Consumed with envy and haunted by the music of a ³spiteful, sniggering,
conceited, infantine Mozart,² court composer Salieri sets out to destroy
him. Sponsored by Schaad Companies, UTıs College of Arts & Sciences, and

Carousel Theatre
How much can one take before one is driven over the edge? Based on a true
story, this seminal 19th century satire about murder, madness and social
deterioration set the stage for contemporary drama of social change.

"The Story of Opal," by Gale Fury Childs
Adapted from The Story of Opal The Journal of an Understanding Heart by
Opal Whiteley
October 28-November 7
Lab Theatre
Based on the childhood diary of naturalist Opal Whiteley, the play tells the
magical story of a young girl in the Cascade woodlands in early twentieth
century Oregon. Surrounded by singing creeks, talking trees, and invisible
fairies, Opalıs story charms and educates.
Great for young audiences.
"A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens
November 24-December 12
For those who have embraced this Dickensı classic as part of their holiday
ritual and for those about to discover it for the first time Scrooge,
the Cratchits, and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet-to-come
return to the mainstage. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Knoxville.
"Itıs a Wonderful Life Radio Play" adapted by Joe Landry
December 2-19
Carousel Theatre
An angel trying to earn his wings shows George Bailey what life would be
like without him. Five actors take on all the roles to bring this beloved
holiday classic to life. Sponsored by Schaad Companies.
"The Merry Wives of Windsor" by William Shakespeare
February 24-March 13
Scheming Sir John Falstaff tries to swindle and seduce not one, but two
married women. Mistress Page and Mistress Ford exact their revenge and

"Phaedra" by Jean Racine

Lab Theatre
An ancient story of a desperate housewife. Based on Hippolytus, Jean
Racineıs classic tragedy is reframed for a contemporary world.
