--- The UT student chapter of the American Society for Information Science and Technology hosts David Ratledge and Teresa Walker, librarians at Hodges Library, who will discuss the implementation of UT Libraries Mobile in a presentation entitled "Creating a Mobile Presence for UT Libraries," noon tomorrow in the Scripps Convergence Lab on the fourth floor of the Communications Building and live via UT's Centra distance-learning site at http://tiny.cc/p2282. Learn more about the technology and the design process behind their efforts to make UT Libraries' collections and services available on smartphones and handheld devices.

--- The Women's Leadership Program, sponsored by the UT Student Orientation and Leadership Development Office, is continuing its four part Women at Work series tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Black Cultural Center Multipurpose room. A panel of UT alumnae will share their personal and professional insight into transitioning from college to career. The third segment, "What I Wish I Knew...Transitioning from College to Career," will provide an opportunity for open discussion, questions, and networking. Questions? --- The Cultural Attractions Committee hosts "Tao: The Martial Art of Drumming," 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the Bijou Theatre. The contemporary costumes and meticulously synchronized choreography with a vibrant, modern twist combines to make an exciting show. --- A free informational meeting for those interested in becoming  volunteers with Human Animal Bond in Tennessee (HABIT), an animal-assisted therapy program, will be held in room A118 at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 10. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration. HABIT, a program of the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, is a group of volunteers working together to promote the bond between people and animals.

--- Volition, a new campus group dedicated to raising awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, will have a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in room 220 of the UC. Membership is open to both men and women. Questions? E-mail [log in to unmask]

--- VOL Vision, a new initiative designed to engage the UT Knoxville community in aiding with the campus strategic plan, has planned a series of meetings, including a forum just for UT students, 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the UC Shiloh Room. Light refreshments will be served.

--- Registration is now open for the first annual Friday Night 5K, Friday, April 16 at 6 p.m., benefiting underprivileged elementary school students in Knoxville through Clinic Vols and Second Harvest. You can register online at fridaynight5k.com or on the Pedestrian Walkway every weekday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early registration fees are $15 for students, $20 for the general public, and $18 per person for non-student groups of 8 or more. Also, stop by the FN5K table on the pedestrian walkway to purchase a T shirt for $10 that will help in advertising for the 5K to ensure that this event is a success for the youth of Knoxville.

Ready for the World Events

--- As the semester is winding down, UT Volunteers are still giving back to the community. Go to the Volunteers Rock the World Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Knoxville-TN/UTK-Ready-for-the-World/112093182219?ref=ts, to check out how your fellow Vols are showing their orange pride in the community. Become a fan of the page and upload your own pictures or videos too. --- Flowers are blooming, birds are singing, and the chicken cacciatore is baking! Spring is officially in the air this week at the Ready for the World Café. In addition to chicken cacciatore, this week's menu contains shredded pork with roasted tomatoes and chilies, steamed salmon with lemon and olive oil, twice baked sweet potatoes, grilled asparagus with barbecue butter, sweet and bitter green salad with vinaigrette dressing and grilled vegetable gazpacho. The theme is "Spring Fling," so break out your shorts and sun dresses. There will be light, cheerful music with a flurry of flowers. An art student also will do an art exhibit to accompany lunch. The cafe is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Monday through Thursday in the Hermitage Room on the third floor of the University Center. Diners pay $11 for the all-you-can-eat buffet or $9 for a plate of food to carry out.

--- The UT Christian Student Fellowship is helping the Sevier County Sheriff's Department collect teddy bears for "children at risk." These children are victims of parental abuse, domestic violence situations and abandonment. CSF will be collecting teddy bears starting today at 2001 Lake Ave. Clean out your closets and give an old teddy bear to a child who needs a companion. --- Walk In My Shoes -- Applications are now available for Walk In My Shoes. This event allows students to show UT Knoxville administrators the experiences and challenges that students face everyday. In turn, administrators get a first-hand look at student life by following students around campus and accompanying them to classes for half a day.
