The School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking a new Associate Dean with strong credentials in either the professional or academic area of information studies. The Associate Dean will be responsible for day to day operations management at the school, interacting with faculty and overseeing office, IT and career advising staff, course scheduling, admissions and student services. The Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean on various budgetary and planning matters aimed at delivering on the mission of the school, serve on school committees and represent the school across the university administration. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to deal effectively and constructively with a range of individuals, from students to upper university administrators, is essential. An ability to teach occasional courses in the MSIS curriculum and to engage in the research programs of the school is a plus and the position will entail certain flexibilities to enable the right individual to make a full contribution to the school. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Important qualifications include, but are not limited to:
• PhD in relevant discipline
• A record of scholarly accomplishment
• Supervisory and management experience in an academic environment
• Awareness of the changes ongoing in the field of information studies
• Understanding of the unique needs of a professional school in a research intensive university
