Hugh Atkinson himself migrated from Ohio State to the University of
Illinois.  He was a bright and colorful fellow dean, sporting an eye patch
and riding a motorcycle.  The early 1980s mirrored the current financial
difficulties.  GSLIS at Illinois was fortunate to have secured an OCLC
terminal and a couple of early PCs during that era of low funding.
