Dear Math Honors students,
We have funding in our grant for student travel to conferences to give
talks. As you may know, two math honors students are traveling to Germany
to give talks this spring, and several others have traveled in the past.
If you are interested in traveling to a conference, I suggest that you
contact your research adviser to help find opportunities. This includes
research advisers outside of UT, e.g. REU advisers. If you are invited to
give a talk at a regular professional conference, the grant can cover your
travel and hotel expenses. Of course our funding is finite, and it would
be best, at this point, to travel prior to the end of July. If you have a
potential opportunity, let me know and we can discuss funding. Funding
will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Many REU advisers
are happy to help their students with conference opportunities, since
conference invitations can help support continued funding.
