Dr. Montúfar will discuss the dominance of left wing populist governments in
the Andes, their socialist ideology, their constitutional model, their economic
model, and their perspective of creating a new international order with links
with such countries as Russia, China, and Iran. Moreover, he will analyze the
similarities and differences between Chávez, Correa, and Morales, and will
depict the common project of constructing a participatory democracy for the
Andes.

Dr. Tammy Taylor supports the Executive Office of the President’s Office of
Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) as a Senior Policy Analyst. Using the
example of nuclear detonation response preparedness, Taylor will discuss the
mission and goals of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) at
the Executive Office of the President and provide information on how the
office accomplishes its mission though various interagency coordination.
