Eagerly awaited workshops on blogging, crafting poetry, writing fiction,
telling your own story, and getting in touch with your own creative energy
are being offered at the Tenth Annual Knoxville Writers’ Guild Summer
Workshops this week.
These low-cost, one-evening short courses taught by notable writers are
being offered jointly by the Knoxville Writers’ Guild and
Pellissippi State Technical Community College. The classes all are offered
Monday through Thursday evenings and end July 24. All classes except one
will beheld at the Hardin Valley campus.
Participants must sign up in advance but can easily do so at the KWG
website. To register, join KWG, or get detailed class information, visit
www.knoxvillewritersguild.org. You can even register the day of the
class. The tuition ranges from $20 to $48 per class. KWG members receive a
discount.
Classes being offered this week and their teachers are:
--“Sculpting the Poem” by Edward Francisco (Monday)
--“CSI for Fiction Writers” by Bryce Anderson (Monday)
--“Writing Personal Essays for Magazines” by Dorothy Foltz-Gray (Tuesday)
--“Poetry for Beginners: Putting It Together” by Carolyn Scarbrough (Tuesday)
--“A Crash Course in Short Story Writing” by Sarah Scoonover (two
sequential sessions, one Wednesday and one Thursday)
--“Tell the Story Only You Can Tell and Tell It Well” by Ina Hughs
(Wednesday)
--“Courting Your Muses” by Doris Ivie (Wednesday at Magnolia Campus)
--“Blogging for Writers” by Katie Allison Granju (Thursday)
