Technical Support Consultant/Analyst II , Library Systems Department
Under the supervision of the Dept. Head/Systems Librarian, but with a
high degree of independence, this position supports the software and
select hardware (i.e. servers) of the integrated systems in the
libraries of the Michiana Academic Library Consortium (MALC - Notre
Dame, Saint Mary's College, Holy Cross College, and Bethel College). The
incumbent implements, maintains and provides a high level of user
support for the client/server integrated library system and related
systems (i.e. Digitool, Metalib, SFX etc.) in use at MALC. Proposes and
assists in the implementation of new technologies in support of
operations, as appropriate.

In a highly-collaborative, dynamic work environment across the
organization, the Library Systems Department supports and enhances the
integrated library system (ILS) and related information systems of the
Michiana Academic Library Consortium, composed of the University of
Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College, Holy Cross College, and Bethel
College. The department supports a variety of information systems at
both the hardware/system administration level as well as application
level. Current applications which are supported in whole or part by the
department include four products by Ex Libris, Inc.: the shared Aleph
500 ILS and SFX citation linker, Metalib federated search tool,
Digitool, a digital asset management application, and a Red Hat
Enterprise Linux cluster environment for the Libraries. Databases are
hosted with either Oracle or MySQL, depending on the application. The
department also leads and participates broadly in other technology
ventures throughout the University Libraries of Notre Dame, including
participating in several next generation search and services research
and development activities, notably with the University of Rochester's
eXtensible Catalog project.

Environment: The University of Notre Dame is a national Catholic
teaching and research university enriched with a diversified faculty,
located in Northern Indiana ninety miles from Chicago. On a highly
residential campus, approximately 8,300 undergraduates and 3,100
graduate students pursue a broad range of studies. The University
Libraries house approximately 3 million volumes within the main Hesburgh
Library and seven branch libraries and currently subscribe to nearly
17,000 serials. The Libraries have a dynamic staff of 200 including 50
librarians.

Application deadline: Initial review of applications will begin on
February 11, 2008 and continue until a successful candidate is chosen.
The pay range for this position is $39,060 - $64,834, with generous
benefits, and reasonable Midwest cost-of-living. Come join us!

 Very best regards,

  - pascal
