Job responsibilities include:
*Serve as the primary interface between Tennessee Operations, Knoxville
Office and Tapoco and local external stakeholders; i.e., local elected
officials, non-profits, special interest groups, citizens, media, etc.
Primary responsibility is to maintain and/or build strong relationships
with these stakeholders while educating them on Alcoa's business
challenges. Manages Community Forum groups to maintain open
communication with key stakeholders and engaging management in policy
and community organizations as appropriate.
*Manage effective media relations program by establishing a proactive
relationship with all local media - print and broadcast. Serve as
spokesperson for the company and respond to requests for information
from the media or designate another appropriate spokesperson or
information source.
*Serve as Tennessee Operations, Knoxville Office and Tapoco
administrator for annual Alcoa Foundation grants. This includes
assessing needs, developing annual grant making plans, working with
Business Unit Lead Team to establish local allocation, reviewing all
grant requests, making final grant recommendations - with approval of
local management, and developing a plan for distributing the funds.
*Oversee employee engagement programs for all Alcoa offices in East
Tennessee to plan for and encourage employees to volunteer in the
community. Serve as SPA for all local donations, sponsorships, gifts,
volunteerism activities and use of "Alcoa" or "Tennessee Operations"
name in outside activities.
*Plan and direct external communication programs and initiatives related
to issues important to Alcoa. This may include promotional programs and
advertising to maintain favorable public perceptions of Alcoa's
accomplishments and agenda. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree with
emphasis in Journalism, Public Relations, Communication and/or Public
Policy.
10 years experience in public relations, government relations, or
communications. Experience with the following required:
*designing and developing appropriate communication strategies;
*developing written and verbal communications, i.e. newsletter, news
releases, presentations, etc.;
*public speaking - working with the media
Strong verbal and written communication skills required;
Must be able to demonstrate increased responsibilities and leadership
capabilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in event management
and issues management preferred.
Philanthropy management experience preferred.
