Electronic Collections Coordinator - Collection Development Librarian -- 
Georgia Institute of Technology -- Georgia
 

Library&#58; The Georgia Tech Library and Information Center invites
applications for an energetic, flexible, knowledgeable, and innovative
professional to join the Collection Development Department as Electronic
Collections Coordinator.  The Collection Development Department, reporting
to the Associate Director for Public Services, is responsible for&#58;
allocation and management of the Library's materials budget; coordination
of the collection development responsibilities of the 16 subject
librarians; facilitating the migration from print to digital format;
development and implementation of collection policies; development and use
of statistical and other management reports to inform collection decisions;
and participation in cooperative collection development initiatives at the
state, regional and national levels. Responsibilities&#58; The Electronic
Collections Coordinator's primary focus is to oversee the selection,
accessibility and assessment of electronic resources as the Library moves
from print to digital format.  Specific responsibilities include&#58;
Collaborate with the Library's subject librarians, with responsibilities
for reference, instruction and collection development,  to identify,
research and evaluate electronic products and offers; Work collaboratively
with publisher and vendor representatives to research new electronic
resources, organize vendor trials and schedule vendor training
opportunities; Responsible for the maintenance of the Library's list of
databases, including collaborating with other library staff to
troubleshoot access issues, and communicating content and&#47;or interface
changes to library staff; Coordinate the compilation and analysis of vendor
and internal use data to manage our electronic collections; Expand and
enhance the Collection Development Portal which serves as an information
gateway for the collection activities of the library's subject librarians;
Collaborate with the Scholarly Communication and Digital Services
Department to  promote campus awareness of scholarly communication issues;
Promote electronic resources to the Georgia Tech Community; Provide
regularly scheduled reference service at the Information Services Desk;
Assume additional collection development responsibilities as needed; Serve
on relevant library, institutional and professional committees and task
forces. Qualifications&#58; Required&#58; ALA-accredited master's degree
in library&#47;information science or equivalent; Minimum two years of
related experience in an academic or research library; Knowledge and
experience with collection development in an academic library; Knowledge
of current practices and trends in managing electronic resources;
Excellent visual, oral, written and intrapersonal communication skills;
Strong analytical skills; Demonstrated ability to use basic desktop
applications such as spreadsheet and database programs; Ability to work
both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, service-oriented, and
rapidly changing environment; Knowledge of trends in scholarly
communication, publishing and academic research;  Experience with and a
strong commitment to public service. Preferred&#58; Familiarity with
emerging electronic resources standards such as SUSHI and  COUNTER;
Experience working with vendors; Demonstrated record of ongoing
professional development. Salary and Benefits&#58; Appointments will be
made at the Librarian I (entry-level) or Librarian II level.  Appointment
level and salary are based on qualifications and experience.  Minimum
salary for Librarian I is $42,000.  Librarians are members of the General
Faculty and are non-tenured.  The benefits package includes 21 days
vacation, 12 paid holidays, 12 days sick leave, health&#47;dental
insurance options and retirement options including TIAA&#47;CREF.
