The Princeton University Library comprises a large central library and 15
specialized libraries that are heavily used by an academic community that
includes 7,200 students and 1,100 faculty members. To support the diverse
needs of its users, the Library holds some six million printed volumes and
provides access to many other records of human knowledge, such as recently
produced electronic databases, journals, and microdata. The Library
employs more than 300 professional and support personnel, complemented by
a large student and hourly workforce. Please consult the Library Web site

ImmediatelyFounded in 1922, the Industrial Relations Section, part of the
Economics Department, focuses on teaching and research in areas such as
unemployment and racial discrimination, unionization, the economics of
labor supply and retirement, unionization, education and school quality,
the effects on minimum wages, and labor turnover and job duration. It also
engages in the training of graduate students in data collection and
analysis and in the supervision of Ph.D. dissertations in economics. For a

Relations collection within Firestone Library; provide specialized
reference and research services for Industrial Relations Section faculty,
students and affiliates; review published literature and databases in the
field of industrial relations, labor economics, and human resources
management and select materials for the library's collections in print and
electronic formats, including "born digital". Direct an in-progress
retrospective cataloging project of historic pamphlet and other grey
literature materials; identify titles in the collection that need to be
preserved and/or may be candidates for digitization. Oversee production of
Selected References, a broadly distributed biennial bibliography focusing
on contemporary labor topics and featuring an annual "noteworthy books"
compilation. Supervise 1.5 FTE support staff. As a member of the Social
Science Reference Center within the Public Services Department, actively
participate in a team-like environment with others to develop and
implement efficient/ effective procedures designed to meet Princeton
University Library's strategic directions. Engages in library planning,
special projects, and professional activities, and represents the Library
at relevant professional organizations such as the Committee of Industrial
Relations. Evening and weekend hours as required. Reports to Economics and
Data Librarian. Required: MLS from ALA-accredited library/ information
science graduate program and/or graduate degree, preferably in a
quantitative social science such as economics or business. Three to five
years professional reference experience in an academic, corporate, or
research library setting. Some supervisory experience. Demonstrated
ability and experience functioning successfully in a fast-paced
environment with a strong public service orientation. Strong written and
oral communication skills.Preferred: Strong familiarity with the
literature of the industrial relations/human resources field; facility
with bibliographic databases and with accessing machine readable economic,
labor, and/ or financial data. Some basic familiarity with at least one
major statistical package, e.g., STATA, SAS, SPSSCompensation and
Benefits: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with
experience and accomplishments. Twenty-four (24) vacation days a year,
plus eleven (11) paid holidays. Annuity program (TIAA/CREF), group life
