POSITION: Academic Technology Librarian. This tenure-eligible,
ten-month position at the rank of Assistant Professor is a member of
the Library Department and also works collaboratively with our User
Services team, within the merged Library and Information Services
(LIS) organization at Luther College. Library and Information Services
provides integrated library and information technology support to the
Luther College community of approximately 2,600 undergraduate
students, and 600 employees.
BEGINNING DATE: No later than August 2008
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Graduate degree in library or information science from an ALA
accredited program
* A strong desire and passion to learn and challenge one's self, while
teaching and training others
* Demonstrated skills in current and emerging instructional
technologies such as multimedia, course management systems, and
curricular integration of technology
* Comfort and interest in leadership and taking on leadership
responsibilities within LIS
* Effective written/oral communication and teaching skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work successfully both
independently and as a team member with colleagues and staff
* An affinity for the study of the liberal arts
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Plays a leading role in planning, implementation, management,
evaluation and support of technology in the Luther College curriculum
in direct consultation with other faculty
* Promotes instructional technology design resources and services to
faculty
* Provides leadership and oversight of academic technology
infrastructure including instructional labs, classroom technologies,
academic software, and course management software
* Serves as a member of our User Services team focusing on delivering
user-focused technology, training, and instruction services and
service points
* Participates in planning, implementation, management and support of
digital repositories, electronic resources, and electronic delivery of
multimedia materials
* Participates as an active faculty member with the Library Department
including general reference service and occasional teaching of
credit-bearing classes
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with academic qualifications and
