Subject: [lita-l] Job: Systems Administrator
Systems Administrator
Luther College seeks an information professional with passion and
interest for building and maintaining central computing and
network-based resources to support the academic and administrative
work of the college. The systems administrator is a member of our
Network & Systems team providing support for a variety of server-based
systems (a mix of vendor-supplied, open source, and locally-written),
and our data network infrastructure. Specific duties include
installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server operating systems,
server systems, and server-based applications.
The successful candidate will bring experience in managing
server-based systems and network infrastructure; the ability to think
and work independently and to adapt in an engaging and developing
environment; strong communication and interpersonal skills; close
attention to detail; and will display advanced analytical and
problem-solving skills. We value candidates with an affinity for the
liberal arts and prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in
computer science or a related information-based field.
This full-time, benefits-eligible position is within Library and
Information Services (LIS), an integrated information service
organization delivering library and information technology based
service to the faculty, students, and administration of Luther
College. We seek creative, innovative, and forward-thinking
individuals who challenge themselves in a rapidly changing information
environment.
Luther College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in
the rolling river bluff country of Northeast Iowa. With 2,600
undergraduates and offering more than 60 majors and programs of study,
Luther partners with the city of Decorah to build a vibrant community
that values sustainability and a sense of place.
Review of applications will begin immediately, and those received by
October 8, 2007 will receive full consideration. Employment is
contingent upon satisfactory results from a background check and
verification of professional credentials. Luther College seeks to
build a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students
and is an equal opportunity employer.
