Taxonomist
As the Taxonomist, you will be responsible for comprehensive taxonomy,
with standard people, processes and tools to manage current and
anticipated requirements for content input, access and lifecycles across
all K12's content and learning products. IN this role, you will index
and tag information and data the organization receives or creates
through multiple sources, such as integrating outside courses, content
authoring and system generated data.
Responsibilities:
* Create, guide, expand and maintain multi-faceted taxonomies and
metadata schemas for k12; ensure taxonomy provides tangible via search,
user-interface, access to content, etc.
* Ensure business compliance
* Communicate and facilitate related training, presentations and
project meetings
* Approve, edit and remove terms from controller vocabularies
* Resolve tactical and strategic data quality issues
* Implement data quality and organization projects
* Identify tool and process improvements
* Identify, manage and execute strategic data organization
projects
Qualifications:
* Advanced degree in Library Sciences, Linguistics or equivalent
knowledge management experience
* 5+ years experience in information architecture, knowledge
and/or content management, library or other collection-related industry
* Familiarity with current concepts, practices and trends in
digital asset management, search engines/portals, database and data
modeling structures
* Ability to synthesize complex technical concepts, protocols and
standards
* Development of controlled vocabularies
* Familiarity with various ontology(s) and current Internet
standards
* Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and facilitate
diverse, complex business needs with active participation and group
consensus
* Exceptional communication skills
