Collection Development Librarian -- Grand Valley State University --
Michigan
Library: The Libraries at Grand Valley State University are seeking a
forward-thinking librarian to lead and coordinate the work of building
print and electronic collections to serve a dynamic university offering
liberal arts and professional programs. Six libraries on three campuses
house a collection of over 32,000 online serials, hundreds of academic
databases, more than 600,000 print volumes, and extensive special
collections and archives. Newly reorganized to facilitate change, growth,
and innovation, the libraries are building a culture of collaboration,
empowerment, creativity, civility and fun, and we are looking for
librarians who work best in such an environment. The Collection
Development Librarian, working with a budget in excess of $4M, is charged
with fostering a strong program of collaboration between library liaisons
and faculty in all academic departments and colleges, establishing and
maintaining collection development policies, and advising library unit
leaders and managers on issues pertaining to collection development.
Reports to the Director of Research and Instructional Services whose
division consists of 23 librarians, 2 professional staff, and 9 clerical
staff and is growing. Required qualifications: MLS or equivalent
degree from an ALA-accredited institution; a minimum of five years of
academic library experience with significant involvement in collection
development or other relevant experience; demonstrated effective
interpersonal communication skills. Salary: Commensurate with
