Acquisitions Librarian -- University of Oregon -- Oregon
ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIANUniversity of Oregon Libraries, Eugene, OR.
Manages the Monograph Acquisitions Unit within the Collection Development
and Acquisitions Department (CDA). Provides leadership and acts as the
primary resource for monograph acquisitions and assisting with other
higher-level management activities. Reporting to the head of CDA, she/he
will coordinate the daily operations related to ordering, receiving, quick
cataloging, and processing a wide variety of resources from around the
world. As the Monograph Acquisitions Unit leader, this colleague will
establish and maintain relationships with vendors and publishers; resolve
complex order problems; assist in budget preparation and monitoring;
design and prepare acquisitions reports; assist in the management of
approval plans; and lead initiatives to develop priorities, analyze
workflows, and implement change in order to enhance services. Will serve
as the technical expert in the use of Innovative Interfaces' Millennium
Acquisitions module, actively collaborating with Library Systems personnel
to evaluate and implement software applications in support of acquisitions
operations. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse
learning and working environment.QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited
MLIS degree in hand by start date; excellent problem solving skills;
ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines; demonstrated
experience handling multiple priorities and/or projects; strong commitment
to service enhancement through teamwork and through responsiveness to
clients; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated
ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with staff at
all levels and with people of diverse backgrounds; potential to excel in a
dynamic academic library environment, displaying leadership, flexibility,
initiative, creative energy, and resourcefulness; familiarity with
monograph acquisitions operations in an academic environment or a similar
large or complex library setting; experience using integrated library
systems; familiarity with fund accounting and library budgeting practices;
demonstrated knowledge of library acquisitions practices, the publishing
industry, licensing, and vendor contracts. APPLICATION PROCEDURES &
