Eastern Michigan UniversityEMERGENT TECHNOLOGIES LIBRARIAN8-month academic
year appointment with additional Spring/Summer appointment possible.
Emergent Technologies Librarian (Posting #F0732), Instructor or Assistant
Professor, Fall 2007.The Eastern Michigan University Library seeks a
proactive, creative, service-oriented individual to play a key role on its
Information Services Team. The Emergent Technologies Librarian will serve
as an explorer of and champion for the use of emergent technologies to
support online learning and enhance the effectiveness of library
information and instructional services. In addition to coordinating
virtual/chat reference, the successful candidate will explore, evaluate,
and encourage the deployment of emergent technologies as they relate to
instruction, research & scholarship, and opportunities to integrate
library resources and services into course management, online learning,
and other campus software initiatives.Qualifications include: a working
knowledge of emergent technologies that are critical for library
development, such as blogs, wikis, "media-casting," RSS, and other digital
capabilities, a demonstrated awareness of general trends in information
technology as they pertain to libraries, and a commitment to scholarship.
Experience in academic library reference is preferred. In short, if you
have "mad skillz" and are committed to public service, this is the
position for you!Appointment at the Instructor rank requires an
ALA-accredited library or information science degree. Appointment as
Assistant Professor requires ALA-accredited library or information science
degree and 18 additional graduate credit hours OR 5 years' professional
