Catalog Librarian -- Truman State University -- Missouri
This position has been revised. This position performs original and copy
cataloging and classification of library materials. Responsibilities
include cataloging and classifying materials in all formats; providing
documentation, instruction, and support for the department's use of
Innovative's Millennium cataloging module; maintaining serials holdings in
WorldCat; resolving complex cataloging problems; assisting with authority
control; maintaining an awareness of emerging standards and technologies;
assisting with training and supervision of student assistants; and serving
on library and University committees.
Required qualifications include ALA accredited MLS; experience working
with an automated library system; knowledge of cataloging standards,
including AACR2R, MARC, LCSH, and LC classification; ability to work
systematically and with accuracy; English language skills; demonstrated
oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and
flexibility and willingness to learn new skills in an environment of rapid
change. Preferred qualifications include reading knowledge of a foreign
language; cataloging experience in an academic library; experience with
Innovative Interface's Millennium system; experience using OCLC Connexion
software; and a demonstrated interest in new technologies.
