Business Librarian -- James Madison University -- Virginia
Library: Business Librarian (Search Re-opened). James Madison
University Seeking an enthusiastic and innovative reference librarian to
work closely with instructional faculty and library staff to develop
innovative approaches to library instruction, collection building, and
outreach. The Business Librarian serves as one of two library liaisons
assigned to the College of Business. Responsibilities: Provides
reference service to the JMU community. Works closely with instructional
faculty and library staff to develop innovative approaches to library
instruction, collection building, reference service, and outreach.
Collaborates with Libraries and Educational Technologies colleagues and
Business faculty on use of technology to improve access to business
information, instruction and service. Contributes in areas of service and
scholarship. Qualifications: Accredited MLS; reference and
instructional experience; strong knowledge of traditional and electronic
reference sources; excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational,
and time-management skills; excellent problem-solving and analytical
skills; a strong understanding of business collection development
practices and challenges; the ability to assist students and faculty with
business information sources; knowledge of current and emerging
technologies and the ability to apply these technologies to a diverse
range of library applications; strong public service orientation; and
ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a rapidly changing
environment. Recent successful professional experience in business
librarianship or related field is highly desirable. Minimum salary:
$42,000. 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment. Competitive
