THE INSTITUTION: Purdue University Calumet serves over 9200 culturally
diverse students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Founded in
1946, the university has developed into a major comprehensive institution.
We are located on a 160 acre, partially wooded campus in Hammond, IN just
25 miles southeast of downtown Chicago. In addition, PUC provides its
faculty and staff with a state-ofthe-art fitness center and an accredited
child care center, as well as a superb benefits package.ALL APPLICANTS:
All positions are full time tenure-track unless otherwise listed. All

IN 46323.Endowed Professorship in Water Resources - Appointment at the
associate or full professor level. An earned Ph.D. degree in Civil
Engineering is required. The candidate should be a distinguished scholar
with outstanding research and teaching records and having a broad
knowledge in Civil Engineering. Responsibilities include: (a) teaching,
advising, and supervising student research; (b) developing a strong
externally funded research program; and (c) supporting the development of
Purdue University Calumet Water Institute. Endowed Professorship in Energy
- Appointment at the associate or full professor level. Applications and
nominations are invited for an endowed professor in engineering with
emphasis on energy efficiency and reliability, starting August 20, 2007.
An earned Ph.D. degree in an engineering field is required. The candidate
should be a distinguished scholar with outstanding research and teaching

certificate is required for this position in the Department of English &

Duties include coordination of the ESL Program, with primary
responsibilities for hiring and staffing decisions, mentoring, supervision
and training, textbook selection and curriculum development, plus
membership on the Committee of the Freshman Year. Teaching duties include
ESL and composition courses in the Freshman Year and applied and/or

sociology or a related field such as human development, community
psychology or social work is preferred for an interdisciplinary assistant
professor position in the Department of Behavioral Sciences. Highly
qualified candidates with an MSW and extensive experience will be
considered. Candidates should have strong teaching and research interests
in human services along with some combination of urban social problems and
social policy. The ideal candidate will have training in social work (MSW
preferred) and will have experience working with children and families and
underserved populations. Assistant Professor of Spanish
(Generalist/Peninsular) - Evidence of ongoing research in the discipline
and a completed Ph.D. (by August 1, 2007) are required for this position
in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures. Teaching assignments
include all levels of Spanish. Candidates able to teach interdisciplinary
courses preferred. Duties will also include participation in School and
University committees. Assistant Professor of Spanish/Director of Basic
Languages - Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and
completed Ph.D. (by August 1, 2007) in linguistics, second language
acquisition, foreign language education or related area required for this
position in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures. Evidence of
strong teaching and an established record or demonstrated potential for
research in the area of specialization are essential. Basic knowledge in
other languages a plus. The director's duties will include teaching
linguistics and Spanish courses, coordinating the lower division language
program, training faculty, and conducting departmental assessment.
Assistant Professor of History - A completed Ph.D. (by August 1, 2007) in
European history is required for this position in pre-twentieth century
European history (excluding Britain). Duties include teaching world
history surveys, interdisciplinary courses, and upper division/graduate
courses in the area of specialization, as well as participation in
University and School committees.Assistant Professor of Political Science
- A completed Ph.D. (by August 1, 2007) in Political Science and evidence
of a continuing research program are required for this position in
International Relations with a strong sub-area in Comparative Politics
(regional specialization is open). Duties include teaching courses in
International Relations, Comparative Politics and American Foreign Policy,
among other, interdisciplinary courses. Ability to teach research methods a
