James Madison University Libraries & Educational Technologies is
accepting applications for the position of Business Librarian. This is a
12-month, tenure-track appointment.
Responsibilities: Serves as one of two liaison librarians assigned to
the College of Business. Provides reference service to the JMU
community. Works closely with instructional faculty and library staff
to develop innovative approaches to library instruction, collection
building, reference service, and outreach. Collaborates with Libraries &
Educational Technologies colleagues and Business faculty on use of
technology to improve access to business information, instruction and
service. Contributes in areas of service and scholarship. Position
reports to the Head of Reference and Government Documents.
Qualifications: Accredited MLS; reference and instructional experience;
strong knowledge of traditional and electronic reference sources;
excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and
time-management skills; excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
a strong understanding of business collection development practices and
challenges; the ability to assist students and faculty with business
information sources; knowledge of current and emerging technologies and
the ability to apply these technologies to a diverse range of library
applications; strong public service orientation; and ability to work
creatively and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment. Recent
successful professional experience in business librarianship or related
field is highly desirable.
Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience, minimum
$42,000. Competitive compensation package includes: 20 paid vacation
