Collections Management Librarian -- St. Cloud State University --
Minnesota
COLLECTION MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN
Type of Appointment: Assistant or Associate Professor, 9-month
appointment
plus 28 additional duty daysSalary: Commensurate with academic
qualifications and experience.Date of Appointment: No later than Fall
2007Responsibilities:The Collection Management Librarian will provide
leadership for library collection development and acquisitions. The
Collection Management Librarian works as a part of a team that is
responsible for collection development, acquisitions, serials
management,
cataloging, and library systems for all collections in LR&TS, including
government publications, serials, monographs, audio-visual media, and
online resources. Specific duties of the position: * Plan and manage
annual serial, monograph, media, and electronic resources allocations of
over $1.1 million* Develop and maintain client-centered relationships
with
faculty and students to determine collection needs and priorities*
Coordinate collection management, including coordination of liaison
collection developers, evaluation of gifts, selection of new materials,
and deselection of resources* Evaluate and assess the collection, set
unit
goals, evaluate and refine procedures, develop appropriate policies, and
manage vendor relations* Participate in statewide coordinated collection
management among academic libraries* Coordinate with other members of
the
collection management team, specifically the E-Resources/Serials
Librarian, the Cataloging Librarian, and the Systems Librarian* Provide
reference services* Oversee the work of staff and student employeesIn
addition, all faculty in LR&TS advise university students, teach one
course per year in a library-associated academic program, and serve on
LR&TS and University committees. Demonstrated ability to teach and/or
perform effectively, scholarly achievement or research, continued
preparation and study, contribution to student growth and development,
and
service to the university and community are required for tenure and
promotion.Qualifications & Experience:Required:* ALA-accredited master's
degree in library or information science* Professional experience in
collection management* Ability to create a cooperative and effective
work
environment* Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team
environment* Ability to present ideas effectively, both orally and in
writing, to groups and individuals* Knowledge of current and emerging
trends in academic library services/resources as they relate to
scholarly
communication and publishingPreferred:* Second graduate degree*
Experience
in an academic library* Teaching experienceApplication Information:A
