Ed,
Here's an internship opportunity that might be of interest to your
students. I know Anne and she'd be a great person to work for.

Internship Announcement/Job Description
The Kalamazoo Gazette is seeking applicants for a paid, 12-week,
full-time summer intern position in news librarianship. The intern will
assist a solo news librarian in archiving, news research, and customer
service duties daily, and the intern will also have the opportunity to
work with the librarian to complete a unique project in the field of
archives, news research, or human/computer interaction for the term of
the internship.
The Gazette serves Southwestern Michigan with a daily afternoon paper
and six weekly regional publications, with a weekday circulation of
approximately 57,000 and a Sunday circulation of approximately 74,000.
Kalamazoo County has a population of nearly 239,000, with plenty of arts
and cultural opportunities, a location close to Lake Michigan and lots
of outdoor summer activities, and an affordable cost of living.
Intern Qualifications: The internship is open to current graduate
students in Library/Information Science, Archives, or to Journalism
students with some archives/library coursework or job experience.
Interest in working in a fast-paced, deadline-based environment and
experience with Macintosh OS X are strongly recommended, as is
experience with researching public records, the Internet, and commercial
databases such as LexisNexis. Knowledge of HTML and experience with
Wikis is also very helpful.

references to:
