Carolina University -- North Carolina

Technology
The College of Education at East Carolina University seeks applications
for the position of Chair of the Department of Library Science and
Instructional Technology (LSIT), available, August 20, 2007. This is a
full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position which reports to the
Dean of the College of Education and represents the department on the
College of Education Leadership Team and the Advisory Council. The LSIT
department offers three degree programs: MLS (with concentrations in
academic, public, and school librarianship) and MAEd and MS in
Instructional Technology. All three programs are delivered totally online
via the internet. The chair will lead and coordinate the department's
strategic planning and curriculum development; coordinate accreditation
and program approval initiatives with guidelines from the American Library
Association, North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction,
National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, American
Association of School Librarians, International Society for Technology in
Education, and Association for Educational Communications and Technology;
teach one or two courses per semester; and provide service to the
university, community, and profession. The MLS degree program holds
pre-candidacy status and is seeking candidacy status for accreditation by
the American Library Association. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications.Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an
earned doctorate in library science, instructional technology, or a
related field; a strong record of publication; a record of service in
relevant professional organizations at the state and national levels; and
qualifications for appointment at the level of Associate or Full
Professor. The department desires a dynamic individual who has experience
with and interest in the ALA accreditation process. Screening will begin
January 5, 2007, and continue until the position is filled. Applicants
