Multiple Positions --  College of Staten Island -- New York
 
FACULTY POSITIONSThe College of Staten Island, a senior college of The
City University of New York (CUNY), seeks candidates for the following
positions:
AFRICAN-AMERICAN LITERATURE - Required: Ph.D.; expertise in
African-American Literature and college teaching experience.
Responsibilities include teaching African-American literature courses in
addition to other literature and freshman writing courses. Send a letter

dissertation chapter, and three letters of reference to: Professor Ellen
Goldner, 2N-218.ASIAN & MIDDLE EASTERN LITERATURE - Required: Ph.D.;
expertise in pre-modern Asian (other thanChinese, Japanese, and Korean)
and or Middle-Eastern Literature. Ability to teach a broad range of
material, but in particular Islamic texts, is desired. Responsibilities
include teaching courses for majors, in addition to the other literature

letters of reference to: Professor Janet Ng Dudley, 2N-218.CHINESE -
Required: a doctorate in Chinese linguistics, second language acquisition,

minimum of one year full-time teaching experience, the ability to teach
all levels of undergraduate Chinese, native or near native command of both
Chinese and English, a demonstrated competence in computer-assisted
instruction and foreign language pedagogy. Responsibilities include
teaching modern Chinese cultural material from a multidisciplinary
perspective. Experience in training foreign language teachers is highly
desirable. The successful candidate will join a vigorous group of scholars
within the growing interdisciplinary area of Modern China Studies at the

constitutional law, as well as introductory courses in American government
and the College's core course, "United States Issues, Ideas, and

The ability to teach Queer Studies through a broad range of literary,
cultural, and theoretical perspectives and approaches is desired.

in hand at the time of application. The areas of specialization are open,
but candidates must be able to teach a broad range of courses in either
Peninsular (pre-19th-century) or Latin American literature. Candidates
must possess native/near-native fluency in English and Spanish, and
demonstrate competence in computer-assisted instruction and foreign
language pedagogy. The ability to coordinate multi-section courses in
Spanish language is also required. A background in Second Language
Acquisition, experience in training foreign language teachers, and a
minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience highly desirable.
Responsibilities include regularly teaching beginning through advanced
language, in addition to literature and civilization courses in Spanish
