The University of the South invites applications for the position of
Learning
and Access Librarian. Founded in 1857, Sewanee is comprised of a College
of
Arts and Sciences, with more than 1,400 undergraduate men and women, and
a
School of Theology, with 110 seminarians pursuing masters and doctoral
degrees. The 10,000 acre campus is located on Tennessee's Cumberland
Plateau
between Chattanooga and Nashville. Sewanee is consistently ranked in the
top
tier of national liberal arts colleges and is affiliated with 28
Southern
dioceses of the Episcopal Church.

Responsibilities of the position include the full participation in the
ongoing
implementation of the library's shared service desk through the
integration of
a broad array of services within the Learning and Access Services
division,
including reference and some circulation services. This individual will
oversee the management and further development of electronic
interlibrary loan
and document delivery services. In addition, this individual will serve
as a
key member of cross-functional teams across the Information Technology
Services division that focus on new or expanding initiatives surrounding
the
delivery of digital information resources such as electronic reserves.
Ideally, this person will possess vision and creativity in the use of
emerging
technologies to better serve library users.

specifically and
in academic libraries generally; excellent oral and written
communication
skills; initiative coupled with team orientation. The individual should

It would be especially desirable for the person coming into this
position to
already have experience with ILLiad and Ariel; experience with the
