POSITION TITLE: User Services Librarian
LOCATION: Roane Co. Campus, Harriman, TN

STARTING DATE: August 2006

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
• Develop, coordinate and deliver reference and instructional
services to library users at all RSCC service area locations
• Help patrons efficiently locate useful information resources and
demonstrate their effective use
• Develop, promote and conduct information literacy and library
resource-related workshops for students, staff and area residents
• Facilitate delivery of library materials between RSCC campuses
using courier and/or document scanner
• Facilitate interlibrary loan lending and borrowing
• Recommend books, databases and other library resources for
possible inclusion or removal from the library collection

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Masters’ degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-
accredited institution
• Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy and ability to
teach information literacy/research skills to diverse student body
• Previous teaching/training experience preferred
• Previous reference services experience preferred
• Effective verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to work at least one night a week and occasional Saturdays
in rotation with other library staff
• Ability to travel within RSCC service area to provide
bibliographic instruction and workshops
