Reference/Instruction Librarian -- California State University-Stanislaus
-- California
Library: Reference Instruction Librarian. The University Library seeks
an innovative and dynamic librarian for the Library's reference and
instruction program. This is a tenure-track twelve-month position. The
reference/instruction librarian will participate as a member of the
reference team, including service at the reference desk, collection
development, and liaison work with assigned academic departments;
participate in the development, implementation, promotion, and assessment
of the Library's expanding library instruction program; teach
credit-bearing library courses, course-related library instruction
sessions, and workshops; and develop online tutorials and Web-based
instruction. Some night and weekend work required. Some travel to CSU
Stanislaus-Stockton off-campus center may be required. Reports to the
Dean of Library Services; maintains collegial relationship with other
library faculty. Participates in library faculty and university
governance. To be recommended for promotion and/or tenure, library
faculty must demonstrate proficiency in the areas of librarianship;
research, scholarship and/or creative activities; and participation in
university affairs. Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited or
equivalent graduate degree; five or more years of current
reference/instruction experience in an academic library or equivalent
higher education experience; demonstrated skills in instruction, both
one-on-one and in a classroom with groups of various sizes; demonstrated
knowledge of a wide range of digital and print reference sources; evidence
of commitment to service excellence; outstanding interpersonal,
communication, and organizational skills; ability to maintain effective
working relationships with colleagues and students in a culturally diverse
academic community; ability to be flexible and to adapt to a changing work
environment. Preferred Qualifications: ALA-accredited or equivalent
graduate degree; two or more years of current reference and instruction
experience in an academic library or equivalent higher education
experience; demonstrated skills in instruction, both one-on-one and in a
classroom with groups of various sizes; demonstrated knowledge of a wide
range of digital and print reference sources; evidence of commitment to
service excellence; outstanding interpersonal, communication, and
organizational skills; ability to maintain effective working relationships
with colleagues and students in a culturally diverse academic community;
ability to be flexible and to adapt to a changing work environment. Rank
and salary: Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian. Rank and salary
commensurate with experience and qualifications. The CSU System offers a
