Monographs Cataloger and Serials Cataloger -- Sam Houston State
University -- Texas
Library: Sam Houston State University seeks both a Monographs
Cataloger and a Serials Cataloger to join a collegial work environment of
16 librarians and 29 staff. Our campus of 15,000 students is located 50
minutes north of Houston in Huntsville, Texas. The Monographs
Cataloger: Coordinates cataloging activities; plans and develops
training; provides daily supervision of 3.5 FTE staff. Identifies and
resolves database problems; provides original cataloging for specialized
materials. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty rank
and status. Required: ALA-accredited master's degree; cataloging
experience in an academic or public library using OCLC; knowledge of LC
Classification, LCSH, AACR2 and authority control. Desirable:
Experience with various bibliographic formats; metadata; supervisory
experience; additional advanced degree. Salary: minimum $45,000 with
benefits package. The Serials Cataloger: Is responsible for complex
copy cataloging for serial publications in print, electronic and other
formats, and in a variety of subjects, using MARC bibliographic and
holdings formats, CONSER and LCSH. This is a 12-month, tenure-track
position with faculty rank and status. Required: ALA-accredited
master's degree. Desirable: Experience in an academic library or
public library; additional advanced degree. Salary: minimum $40,000
with benefits package. Both positions report to the Assistant Director for
