Multiple Positions -- Harford Community College -- Maryland
HARFORD COMMUNITY COLLEGEis seeking candidates for the following
positions:Dean for Business, Computing, & Applied Technology
($71,961-$82,755) Reports to the VP for instruction. Provides leadership
to & is responsible for the administration of the division.
Responsibilities include the pursuit of improvement in the learning of
students, curriculum development oversight, program & discipline review,
faculty development, faculty evaluation, budget preparation & management,
supervising staff, representing the college in local & regional
organizations as appropriate, & serving as an effective member of the
college&#f092;s academic management team. Candidate will have 5 plus years
of higher education leadership experience including supervisory
responsibilities & teaching experience, full-time preferred.
Master&#f092;s degree required, doctorate preferred, in a field closely
related to the disciplines in the division or in an applied or high
technology field. Experience preparing class schedules & with alternative
delivery modes also required. Preference for experience managing Carl
Perkins Grants & as a Tech- Prep liaison. Start date January, 2007.Dean
for Library & Instructional Resources ($71,961-$82,755)Reports to the VP
for instruction. Provides leadership in all functions associated with a
technology rich academic library, instructional resources for faculty
development & a growing distance learning program. Responsibilities
include provide high quality services in a 7-day-a-week operation; oversee
instructional resource center; lead the selection, implementation &
management of library & distance learning systems; promote teaching &
assessing information literacy; prepare & manage division budget;
supervise staff; represent the college in local & regional consortia &
other organizations; serve as an effective member of the college&#f092;s
academic management team. Five plus years of higher education leadership
experience including supervisory responsibilities. MLS degree required or
closely related degree & library management experience. Experience in
distance learning & instructional technology preferred. Start date is
January, 2007.FACULTY (Salary Range) Developmental/Transitional
Reading/English Tenure- Track Faculty ($37,132-$59,835)This is a 10-month
position scheduled to begin January, 2007 (subject to available funding).
The instructor&#f092;s primary teaching responsibilities will include
developmental courses in reading comprehension & vocabulary, &
understanding college textbooks. Candidates must demonstrate experience in
reading instruction at the community college level; ability to teach an
occasional course in introductory writing; & develop curriculum.
Experience in alternative delivery systems highly desirable.
Master&#f092;s degree in reading or closely related field required.
Doctorate preferred. Ability to teach at-risk students, computer
proficiency, ability to use technology in instruction required. Higher
education teaching experience preferred.Economics Tenure-Track Faculty
($37,132-$59,835)This is a 10-month position scheduled to begin January,
2007 (subject to available funding). The instructor will be responsible
for teaching a variety of lower level college economics courses;
curriculum development; & other related duties as assigned. Master's
degree in economics or closely related field; PhD preferred; at least 2
years teaching economics full time at the higher education level;
experience with computer software & technology aided instruction
preferred.FULL TIME (starting salary) Application Developer
($37,908-$47,420) Reports to the Manager of Technology Operations.
Provides application development & programming support for the
implementation of systems/software products & the HCC web site.
Associate&#f092;s degree in Information Systems or related discipline;
Bachelor&#f092;s degree preferred. Extensive experience in complex, cross-
departmental projects involving multiple platforms; knowledge of SQL, JAVA
& JavaScript required; 2 plus years experience developing, designing,
integrating & deploying web-based applications required. Knowledge of
operating systems, programming languages, databases/tools, web site
development, server side programming (asp), & productivity tools desired.
Training in programming, database management systems, systems analysis
upgrades, & data communications preferred. Equivalent technical training,
