POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Assistant Director of Development for the Collegeof Engineeringat the
Universityof Tennessee, Knoxville, will be responsible for developing and
implementing a variety of private gift fund raising efforts on behalf of
the College. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of
Development for the Collegeof Engineering. Responsibilities will include
identifying major gift donors and prospects to cultivate, solicit and
steward. These activities will involve setting priorities and goals,
developing strategies, preparing materials, conducting visits with
prospects and donors, finalizing commitments, and conducting stewardship
activities.
The Assistant Director will work closely with volunteer leaders,
specifically the Board of Advisors, development and alumni affairs staff,
the UTKVice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, and
deans, department heads, and faculty of the college in conducting fund
raising activities. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of
Development. This is a full-time permanent position, and requires a
flexible schedule including weekend and evening hours and frequent travel.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required. Excellent communications and
interpersonal skills; ability and willingness to engage in extensive
travel and to staff evening and weekend events; demonstrated commitment to
and knowledge of equal opportunity employment and affirmative action.
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum of two years experience in academic fundraising and capital
campaigns, or the equivalent; proven ability to prioritize and manage
complex projects and to work in a fast-paced, team environment;
appreciation of the vital role not only of the College of Engineering but
of its alumni and friends in a major land grant, research university.
