Editorial Assistant II, News Service
The Vanderbilt News Service is looking for a highly motivated individual with
excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and an interest in current
events. Ability to work under deadline is essential. Must have excellent
computer and Internet research skills and familiarity with database systems.
Candidate must have excellent writing skills and the ability to review,
summarize and edit written material for structure, grammar, style and
spelling. Knowledge of Photoshop a plus. Education: bachelor’s degree.
Job responsibilities:
Helps develop and maintain delivery of print, broadcast and photo services
through the News Service Web site.
Researches and compiles daily electronic and hard-copy summary of news clips
about Vanderbilt and higher education.
Compiles periodic monthly highlights of Vanderbilt’s news coverage.
Maintains and updates database of media coverage.
Compiles information and works with other departments to produce an annual
facts brochure.
Maintains filing systems that include print and broadcast clips and news
releases.
Undertakes other writing projects as assigned.
Provides backup for office support staff.
Oversees student workers.
