Staff Assistant
Department: Marketing
Reports To: PR Manager / Special Events Manager
Position Type: Seasonal Part-time (35-40 hours a week)
SUMMARY Assist Public Relations and Special Events with daily, critical administrative functions and on-going projects to support daily park operations and special events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Track, file and report all publicity clippings
Maintain supply of Press Kits; Keep them current throughout the year
Follow up to Calendar editors monthly, reminding them of upcoming events
Assist with coordination of On-Park media
Assist with On-Park FAM tours
Coordinate radio station promotions and radio remotes
Maintain Online press room; Keep current press releases and pictures up-to-date
Organize and Manage photo library
Assist with coordination of non-media filming and photography requests
Oversee charity/donation ticket requests
Coordinate special projects as assigned by the Public Relations Manager
Assist in writing general press releases and fact sheets as assigned by the Public Relations Manager
Assist with general administrative responsibilities, such as purchase orders, billing, mail, guest correspondence, etc.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Write memos/letters, general purchase order fulfillment for office and Special Events needs.
Purchase various Special Event supplies.
Assist in various assignments as directed by the Special Events Manager.
Bid out contracted labor for events including printing, costumes, entertainment, golf carts and other specialty supplies.
Coordinate and direct set up / take down of booked events through load in, check in, supplier set-up and load out procedures.
Assist with all aspects of special events as directed by the Special Events Manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise department interns

Must be able to work weekend, nights, and holidays as necessary (associated with Special Events)
Good people skills required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent;
College degree strongly preferred, specifically Marketing, Public Relations or Special Events experience
Previous experience relating to the General Public is strongly recommended
SKILLS (language, mathematical, reasoning, etc.)
Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English proficiently
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
Must have computer experience including MS Word and Excel
PowerPoint and Internet experience strongly recommended
Must be detailed oriented and able to follow written and oral instructions
Must be able to multi-task and work well independently in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to work well with deadlines
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
