Education and Experience requirements: Bachelors degree in marketing,
communications or a related field, with minimum of two years experience
in advertising, marketing, or public relations; experience in social
marketing or ad agency experience is desirable. Required skills: Good
written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; good grammar and
proofreading skills (candidates should be able to submit samples of past
work). Desirable skills: Technical knowledge of social marketing,
effective health communication strategies, and public health program
development; familiarity with graphics software
Salary Range: $31-$42K depending on level of experience
Job Duties:
Assist in the development and implementation of a communications/social
marketing plan to inform and influence individual and community
decisions that enhance health and to accomplish the Department's
strategic objectives related to health disparities, diabetes, heart
disease, stroke, infant mortality, adolescent pregnancy, prenatal care
and obesity including identifying models of behavior change and best
practices
Develop messages to educate the public about health issues, risks and
actions you want the target audience to take, including development of
culturally appropriate messages to reach targeted population groups,
taking into account the demographic/psychographic characteristics and
other key insights about the audience such as factors that influence an
individuals actions or behaviors
Develop marketing collateral materials such as PSAs, brochures, fact
sheets, and website content
Assist in the development, editing, proofing and general management of
social marketing campaigns to improve the health and well-being of
Tennesseans including coordinating with any contracted marketing firms
Support local public health agencies in the design and implementation of
health communication initiatives, planning community events, and the
dissemination of messages at the community level
Identify communication channels to reach target audiences and develop
partnerships with stakeholders to maximize opportunities and resources
Perform additional communications activities as assigned by the Director
of Communications and Media Relations
