Media Relations Manager
The American Cancer Society’s National Home Office is seeking a Media
Relations Manager to recommend and implement day-to-day press strategies and
tactics for cancer programs and awareness campaigns. Basic media relations
duties: write and edit press releases, op-eds, letters-to-the editor, talking
points, pitch letters etc. Assists with tracking and reporting media
interaction and results/trends and measuring success of press outreach.
Coordinates online/offline press conferences, briefings, and other press
events. Arranges and monitors media interviews with Society staff and
volunteer experts. Responds to media inquiries and proactively pitches
stories. Synthesizes complex scientific content into clearly understood
communications. Interacts with public relations agency teams to coordinate
media outreach.
Requires Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
and five to seven years of experience in media relations with proven media
placement results. Must have healthcare/science/medicine communications
experience. PRSA/IABC/SPJ professional affiliation a plus, as is knowledge of
cancer. Must understand media relations practices and have proven success with
media partnerships.

We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Senior Specialist to join our
U.S. Marketing Services team and work with our Atlanta marketing lead to help
plan and manage of a number of marketing and local image initiatives and
programs for our location that help build the image and brand of Accenture.
This position also works with our various industry and service offering
marketing teams to execute a variety of marketing and communications programs.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the execution of Accenture’s marketing & communications strategy
and programs.
· Maintain competitor and other relevant local market intelligence/awareness.
· Provide planning and execution support for assigned industry and service
offering marketing programs across a variety of marcom skill areas including
event logistics support, thought leadership initiatives, internal
communications programs, client outreach, credentials and collateral
development, web writing, internet marketing, brand management, event
sponsorship, trade show support, etc.
· Provide planning and execution support for local implementation of Global
Image programs.
· Help implement local image programs in south region locations including
community relations (strategic charitable contributions, employee giving
campaigns, corporate volunteerism, strategic board placement program, etc.),
local media relations, corporate entertainment, sponsorships, brand
management, internal communications (employee and executive level) and
recruitment marketing support.
· Assist in the day-to-day marketing & communications support for key
stakeholders in location (partner in charge of office, other key senior
executives, marketing lead).
Skills & Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, journalism, communications or
related field.
· Four to six years of broad based marketing & communications experience.
· Broad knowledge of marketing & communications disciplines such as marketing
strategies (planning, research, audience segmentation, etc.), program design
and management and communications (IC, media, events & hospitality),
sponsorship, web content, internet marketing, database management, etc.).
· Strong technology savvy and budget management experience.
· Agency and/or technology industry experience is desired.
· Community relations background/knowledge of Atlanta’s nonprofit and business
community is a strong plus.
· Good executive presentation and leadership skills, including strong
networking, oral and written communication skills.

Communications and Marketing Manager
THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IS CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE
FOLLOWING NON-MERIT POSITION:
COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING MANAGER –
The Department of Economic Development is the State of Georgia’s sales and
marketing arm, promoting Georgia to potential investors, leisure travelers,
group tour operators, and film/video/music producers, and supporting the
growth of small businesses, entrepreneurs and existing industry. This position
plays a leading role in coordinating the department’s communications and
marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities include working with the Director of Communications and the
Department’s marketing/public relations firms to develop and implement
communications and marketing strategies to promote Georgia’s economic
development. Media relations will be a major responsibility, as will
production of publications, brochures, annual reports, newsletters, magazine
articles, press releases, presentations and website copy. The position will
also include speechwriting for senior staff members. Reviewing and
distributing newspaper/periodical clippings and planning and coordinating
special events will also be required. The Communications and Marketing Manager
will assure that all marketing and communications support the brand strategy
of the Department. This position will be responsible for tracking and
reporting the results of marketing programs and advising the management team
on innovative marketing programs to effectively market Georgia to existing and
new ! market segments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – A bachelor’s degree from an accredited private or
public postsecondary institution and five (5) years of communications, public
relations and/or marketing experience, with a substantial amount of experience
with media relations and high-level writing. Must be very familiar with Word,
Excel and PowerPoint software.
Preferred Qualifications - Completion of a bachelor’s degree in journalism,
communications, English, advertising, public relations or marketing. Seven (7)
years experience, including major publication production, extensive experience
with higher-level writing and speechwriting. Familiarity with ACT! computer
software .
