If you are not eligible to work the polls (registered in another county, for
example), and would still like to help uphold democracy by participating in
our electory process, you can volunteer to be a pollwatcher. Polysci majors,
pre-law students, this is a perfect line on your resume! Golden Key has
partnered with Just Democracy (JD), an association of law students (they are
on 49 of 50 campuses), to provide extra legal training to be a volunteer
pollwatcher. A pollwatcher hangs out at the polls and serves at the kind of
"go-to" person whenever there is a legal question (don't worry, you'll be
fully trained). Pretty cool and rather important sounding job, eh?! And these
guys get to split shifts too!
If you are interested please reply back to me [log in to unmask] so that
"pollwatchers" is in the subject line. Thanks for all of your interest and
support of this important election!
