Position Description
The Associate Vice Chancellor is responsible for the constituent-based
development programs on the University of Tennessee’s Knoxville campus. The
Associate Vice Chancellor reports to the Knoxville Vice Chancellor for
Development.
1. Work with the Knoxville campus constituent development staff and deans;
establish and implement performance goals and objectives for each of the
Knoxville campus constituent development programs
a. Establish performance goals and objectives
b. Develop and implement plans to achieve performance goals and objectives
c. Monitor and report on progress towards performance goals and objectives
2. Supervise 10-15 direct reports (Directors of Development in each of the
Knoxville Colleges and Director of Development for the Library and McClung
Museum)
3. Serve as constituent development programs’ liaison with UT System offices
of planned giving, corporate/foundation relations, campaign planning and
advancement services
4. Assist in the development and operation of the prospect tracking system
5. Assist in the development of an orientation program and on-going training
for development officers and deans
6. Work a portfolio of major donors
7. Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and minimum ten years increasingly
responsible positions in development, with at least five years successful
supervisory experience. Must understand the major gifts solicitation process
and have the ability and proven track record to personally close major gifts.
Ability to lead and motivate a diverse group of people with multiple and
varied job duties. Strong organization and time management skills. Strong
written and verbal communication skills. Energetic, outgoing personality with
friendly, customer-service orientation and the ability to interact pleasantly
with a wide variety of people.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate degree. Development experience in higher
education. Excellent computer skills and the ability to work in a Windows
environment.
