Yes, the headline is correct. This weeks Golden Key meeting will take place
Wednesday at 6:30 in the TRECS building. I know your thinking right
now.....could this get any better Golden Key, Free Pizza, and TRECS. I know
TRECS is a big building, but we have directions... Walk in the front door,
then through the turnstyles, go up the stairs then take a left, the room
should be the third door to the left, and there will be a sign up. We have
got some great ideas and projects for this semester, and look forward to
getting started. We would love for everyone to come out next WEDNESDAY @6:30
in TRECS for not only an awesome Golden Key meeting, but FREE PIZZA also.
Some of the projects we will be discussing are the on going POP-TOP
collection, Green School Kickoff, Relay for Life, Regional Convention, and
Collecting funds for teen mothers....read below for more. Again we look
forward to seeing everyone Wednesday
Golden Key is joining the Jewish Student Center (Hillel) in throwing a baby
shower for the residents of the Florence Crittendon Center. We are asking for
your support of this life-changing project. Please bring your monetary
donations to the next Golden Key meeting.
Florence Crittenton is a residential treatment program for teenage mothers
that have nowhere else to stay. We are organizing a baby shower for the
residents and bringing gifts they will need for their babies. Gifts,
including baby necessities like diapers, car seats, clothing and blankets, are
stored at the Center until the mother delivers. We will also be providing
some personal hygiene items for the mothers, which are always needed at the
Center. It is also part of the overall Knoxville Jewish Community Mitzvah Day
event. (Mitzvah is Hebrew for commandment; we are obligated to help others.)
Materials for the making of baby blankets will be purchased during the last
week of January. The blankets will be made up to and including the morning of
February 8, 2004. Other items for the shower (diapers, bottles, etc.) will
also be purchased prior to the event. The items will then be wrapped on the
morning of February 8th and delivered to the young mothers at the shower that
afternoon at 2:00pm.
All donations are welcome regardless of the amount… even your spare change can
help! The women of Golden Key and Hillel are invited to participate in the
shower. Due to the nature of the center, men are not allowed on premises;
however, you are welcome in all other aspects of the shower! If you would be
interested in helping shop, make blankets, or attending the shower, please
contact Jennifer LeBlanc Gridley at [log in to unmask] for more information.
