Here are some really important announcements about upcoming service events.
Get excited and come help out!

Green School Tutoring began this week! Golden Key has fielded about 10
volunteers who help kids with their homework Mon-Thur every week. We are
currently providing about half of the volunteers for Green School's after
school program, a program which might not be able to happen without our help.
Makes you feel good, doesn't it? It's not too late to sign up, and it only
takes an hour a week! E-mail [log in to unmask] for more information.

Golden Key is beginning another program with Green School! In an effort to
increase the writing abilities of its students, Green School has put out a
call for anyone who wants to be a pen pal to a 4th or 5th grader. If you are
interested in becoming a pen pal then E-mail [log in to unmask] and I will add you
to the committee E-mail list. There is some urgency to this: I'd appreciate a
response by Monday if possible.

And finally, our Make a Difference Day event will be Thursday October 23rd
from 4:15 to 6:15 in the afternoon at the Halls/Powell Boys and Girls Club.
We will be running a Field Day type event in which the kids will be delivered
to us 20-30 at a time in 45 minute shifts. In those 45 minutes we will be
coaching the kids in athletic activities (think sports camps) and playing with
them. In order for this to work we're going to need some brave souls to
volunteer to be in charge of certain activities. Are you good at throwing and
catching baseballs? Have a fielding clinic and then play pickle with the
kids! Were you a soccer god(ess) in high school? Have a soccer clinic and
then play a scrimmage game! I'm hoping to have 2-3 people working each
activity, but someone has to step up and be the planner/organizer of each one.
Also, we will be touring the facility this Wednesday at 5 o' clock. C'mon,
it will be fun! Again, E-mail me at [log in to unmask] for more.
