Primary Objectives:
The West Coast Director of Public and Media Relations' primary objective is
to support the corporate public relations efforts for Jackson National Life
Insurance Company's west coast units.  The position will be based in Denver,
Colorado and reports to the JNL Vice President of Government and Public
Relations in Lansing, but will entail regular travel to Lansing, MI and
Santa Monica, CA.

Nature and Scope of Position
The West Coast Director of Public and Media Relations supports the Public
Relations Department by developing and implementing corporate public
relations programs to increase the awareness and favorable image of Jackson
National Life Distributors, Inc.,, Jackson Federal Bank, National Planning
Holdings, Inc., and other Jackson National Life business units as necessary.
He/She will maintain and enhance corporate image through effective
utilization of communications and public relations best practices. The
incumbent must have a solid understanding of the needs, policies, objectives
and practices of the corporation.

The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively handle a
variety of complex issues that arise quickly and require immediate
attention.  He/She will coordinate the corporate communication plan and all
corporate public and media relations activities to west coast entities in
conjunction with the JNL Vice President of Government and Public Relations
using our standard review process.

The ideal candidate will have at least a Master's degree in journalism,
public relations, English, communications or a related field and at least 10
years experience in public relations, including managerial and product
launch experience and a thorough working knowledge and understanding of AP
style.  The candidate will also have at least 5 years experience in the
financial services industry, with special consideration given to experience
with mutual funds, variable annuities, variable life insurance, and wrap fee
products.

Principal Accountabilities
In coordination with the Vice President, the West Coast Director of Public
and Media Relations will be primarily accountable in the following areas:

*       Trade Media Relations - support of the Vice President as a contact
for national, state and local trade media regarding JNL west coast
operations
*       Local PR/Community Relations - creation and implementation of a
comprehensive strategy for raising the profile of JNL and its subsidiaries
in Denver and Santa Monica and for each broker/dealer in its home city
*       CEO Communications - coordination of JNLD's CEO messages to external
and internal audiences, which will include drafting of announcements, public
statements, presentations and preparation documents
*       Product Public Relations - assist with  JNL product public
relations, which may include monitoring product meetings, coordinating the
review process and establishing timelines for deliverables
*       Account Executive Responsibilities - external and internal
communications as the primary media contact for, Jackson Federal Bank,
National Planning Holdings, Inc. broker/dealers and the Advanced Markets
Unit of Jackson National Life Distributors, Inc., and any other JNL business
unit as necessary.
