Scripps Networks, a division of E.W. Scripps and the parent company of the
popular lifestyle cable brands Home & Garden Television, Food Network, DIY -
Do It Yourself Network and Fine Living, is looking for an energetic,
detail-oriented public relations intern in our communications department at
the company headquarters in Knoxville, Tenn.
Corporate communications interns at Scripps Networks get multi-faceted,
hands-on experience in a variety of PR disciplines including consumer and
trade media relations, special event planning, employee relations, public
affairs, and presentation services.
Successful candidates for this internship are very goal oriented, work well
in a team environment, and must have a desire to invest in their experience
with us to reach personal and professional goals.
In addition, we require our interns to:
* have strong writing and editing skills with an understanding of AP
style;
* demonstrate established organizational skills and time-management
capabilities in order to manage multiple deadlines;
* articulate their personal goals for the internship as a tool for
mentoring and guidance;
* maintain a regular schedule of office hours at least three days per
week (minimum of 15 hours);
* provide evidence upon acceptance into the program that the
internship is for college credit;
* be a member of PRSSA or similar student organization (active
affiliation is preferred).
Although this internship is a non-paid position, it is structured so that
our student intern completes his or her tenure with many valuable
professional experiences to prepare for a career in public relations.
