Join the executive board of Golden Key!!!

Our chapter of Golden Key is holding elections on Wednesday, February 19th
in UC 220, 6:30pm.

The newly selected officers will shadow the current officers until April
6th when we have Officer Transition.

All offices are open for the taking!  A list of the offices and
responsibilities is below.

The positions of President, VP, Secretary, and Treasurer must be Lifetime
Members (juniors or seniors who have been inducted).

Pick a position that's best for you.  Or, just come vote for your future
leaders of Golden Key!  We look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday!

OFFICES IN GOLDEN KEY

*President
Ø Organize, plan and lead to ensure the perpetuation and overall
success of the chapter
Ø Work with the chapter advisor to plan a calendar of activities for
the upcoming year
Ø Plan regular meetings and prepare agendas for the officers;
delegate responsibilities as necessary.
Ø Meet with the other officers and the chapter advisor to choose new
honorary members
Ø Ensure that the chapter fulfills all chapter standards

*Vice President
Ø Fulfills president’s duties in the absence of the president and
assist president in the completion of duties as needed.
Ø Coordinate executive board and committees to conduct ongoing campus
awareness campaigns, particularly the annual membership drive
Ø Coordinate the planning and the implementation of the induction
ceremony reception.
Ø Assist the president in coordinating activities to help the chapter
fulfill chapter standards

*Treasurer
Ø Manage all financial transactions of the chapter with the guidance
from the chapter advisor
Ø Receive and distribute chapter funds
Ø Work with the president and advisor to prepare an accurate budget
for the chapter within one month of the new member induction ceremony.
Ø Plan chapter fundraisers, at least one per semester
Ø Submit in International Headquarters, by June 1, a financial
summary of the past year’s income.

*Recording Secretary
Ø Record and prepare minutes of each executive board and chapter
meeting to distribute
Ø Prepare and deliver reception invitations to the administrators and
faculty
Ø Assist chapter historian with the Chapter Yearbook by keeping a
running, up-to-date list of all chapter activities, ensuring that chapter
activity summaries are completed in a correct and timely manner

*Correspondence Secretary
Ø Distribute meeting minutes, messages, announcements to membership
via email
Ø Ensure email distribution list remains updated and accurate
Ø Compose and send any chapter correspondence to university
administrators and faculty, members, honorary members, campus student
organizations, etc.
Ø Prepare and mail correspondence to HQ
Ø Work with Historian to prepare Chapter Yearbook

Historian
Ø Prepare the annual Chapter Yearbook: Due June 1
Ø Obtain all correspondence, agendas, minutes from appropriate
officers
Ø Save and document all evidence of chapter activities, including
pictures/Beacon ads
Ø Take pictures to use in Chapter Yearbook

Community Service Director
Ø Network and partner with other campus organizations with programs
and activities
Ø Plan and coordinate at least two service projects per semester
Ø Serve as a liaison between the chapter and Green Math and Science
Magnet Academy



Service Initiatives Director
Ø Coordinate the annual service initiative project given by HQ
Ø Plan events for the special service days on the International
Service Calendar
Ø Organize and coordinate Make-A-Difference Day
Ø Plan events in conjunction with Golden Key’s National Service
Partners: America’s Promise, Points of Light Foundation, America Reads,
Just the Facts (Alcohol Awareness Campaign)

Academic Programs Director
Ø Program at least one activity per semester with an academic focus
Ø Serve as a liaison to KAPLAN to coordinate test drives and make
sure all of their needs are met
Ø Announce upcoming scholarship deadlines for lifetime members

Social Director
Ø Plan and coordinate at least one social event per semester
Ø Organize the annual open house during membership drive with the
Vice-President
Ø Most successful events take place on/around campus
Ø Can plan events to take place after a meeting

Publications Director
Ø Collect articles from executive board, advisor and honorary members
for chapter newsletter
Ø Create and edit one chapter newsletter per semester
Ø Ensure distribution of newsletters
Ø Collect CONCEPTS articles, minimum of two per year
Ø Deadlines: Nov. 15 & Mar. 15
Ø Create program for Induction

Public Relations Director
Ø Coordinate all publicity for chapter activities and events.
Ø Maintain good relations with student newspaper and radio station.
Ø Place ads and public service announcements in local media
Ø Write and submit press releases for important chapter activities
Ø Explore creative methods of advertising or publicity  to increase
awareness about Golden Key

Corporate Development Chair
Ø Work to establish/maintain good relations with local corporate
sponsors
Ø Bring representatives from corporate organizations on campus for
programs/meetings
Ø Assist Public Relations Director with other duties

Honorary Member Liason
Ø Prepare and send chapter updates to honorary members throughout the
year
Ø Prepare and send invitations to Induction and other events
Ø Plan and coordinate at least one honorary member activity/semester

Webmaster
Ø Update and maintain local Golden Key web page
Ø Make sure web page is linked to GK HQ site
Ø Create the slideshow for induction
Ø Webpage is judged for international award on June 1


* Must be a Lifetime member of Golden Key
**All officers must attend weekly executive board and general membership
meetings
*** Officer transition is required and will take place on April 6, 2003.
