Assistant Vice President for Communications and Marketing
Responsibilities: The Assistant Vice President for Communications and
Marketing directs and manages communications and brand development
activities for The University of Tennessee. Reporting to the Vice President
for Public and Governmental Relations and working with the University's
leadership, the Assistant Vice President leads communications planning,
market research, creative development, and marketing executions performed
by
the Office of Communications and Marketing. The work directly impacts
student recruitment, legislative relations, fundraising, internal
communications, constituency relations, and other important functions that
contribute to the reputation and progress of the University of Tennessee.
The Assistant Vice President's responsibilities include: championing the
university-wide process for developing and implementing the University's
integrated marketing plan; developing strategy and assessing progress
toward
marketing goals; advising the Vice President for Public and Governmental
Relations and the University's leadership on communication and developing
public relations strategy; supervising staff and overseeing marketing and
communications budgets; executing priority communication projects,
including
major image advertising; and serving as key leadership for daily issues
management and strategic planning.
Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in
marketing or communications; Master's degree preferred. A minimum of at
least five years of senior-level experience in communications, marketing,
and/or public relations required, preferably in higher education or a
related field. Preference will also be given to candidates with proven
experience in integrated brand marketing. Person must be highly energetic
and creative with excellent communication and people skills and basic
computing skills. Must have the ability to handle multiple
responsibilities,
manage budgets, prioritize and think strategically, and travel frequently.
